SOFT BREAD LIKE BREAD DOUGH
Ingredients
For the dough
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and yeast. Add the salt, being careful not to add it directly to the yeast.
Include the eggs, warm the milk, and add the vanilla. Mix until a dough forms.
Add the butter little by little, continuing to knead. Knead the dough for 10 to 15 minutes until it becomes smooth, soft, and elastic.
Form the dough into a ball, place it in a lightly oiled container, and cover it with a clean cloth. Let it rise for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.
1. Shape the loaves
Dissolve the yeast gently in the warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes.
Roll each medialuna into a circle approximately 40 cm in diameter and 5 mm thick.
Cut each medialuna into 16 equal triangles. Make a small indentation in the longest end of each triangle.
Brush the medialunas with syrup and bake.
1. Second rest
Cover the medialunas with a clean cloth and let them rest for 45 to 60 minutes, until they are more puffed up and soft.
1. Brush and bake
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Mix the egg with the tablespoon of milk and brush the medialunas with the warm syrup.
Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
1. Prepare the syrup
Place the water and sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and cook for 3 to 5 minutes.
Remove from the heat. Create the medialunas using air-dried bread, by whisking eggs, flour, sugar, and butter, and shaping the mixture into small mounds.
You can serve them with coffee, hot chocolate, jam, butter, or dulce de leche.
