Arequipe cake/manjar or dulce de leche
Ingredients:
Sponge cake:
1 kg of self-rising flour. 1 kg of sugar.
500 g of margarine. 1 litre of milk. 10 eggs. 10 drops of cream essence. 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence. zest of one lemon.
Decoration: 1 can of condensed milk.

Preparation:
Sponge cake:
Beat the margarine, eggs, lemon zest and sugar in a bowl until creamy.
Add the cream and vanilla essence.
Fold in the flour and milk using a wooden spoon.
Pour the mixture into a previously floured and buttered mould and bake at 250°C for 45 minutes.
Decorated:
Place the can of condensed milk in a bain-marie for 2 hours, when it cools, open it and then decorate.
