Hot dog bun is a soft, fluffy variety of bakery bread, specifically designed to contain sausages and other hot dog ingredients.  It usually has an elongated shape and divides at the top to hold the filling.  Its texture is ideal to complement the flavor of sausages and enhance the experience of eating hot dogs.

Ingredients:

• 1 cup (240 ml) warm milk

• 2 tablespoons (30 g) of sugar

• 2 1/4 teaspoons (7 g) active dry yeast

• 3 cups (360 g) of wheat flour

• 1/4 cup (60 g) melted butter

• 1 teaspoon (6 g) salt

Before making hot dog buns, be sure to brush the buns with melted butter and garlic for an extra touch of flavor.  Also, lightly toast the breads for a crispier bite.

Preparation:

• In a small bowl, mix the warm milk, sugar and yeast.  Let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes, or until the yeast is foamy.

• In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.

• Add the activated yeast mixture to the bowl of flour, followed by the melted butter and egg.  Mix well until you obtain a smooth dough.

• Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.

• Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rest in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.

• Preheat the oven to 180°C.

• Divide the dough into portions and form elongated cylinders to give it the shape of a hot dog bun.

• Place the loaves on a baking sheet and let them rest for about 15 minutes.

• Bake them for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Ready!  Now you have homemade hot dog bun.  You can adjust the quantities according to your needs and preferences.  Enjoy!
