Indian eating habits
Breakfast is salty, we find the rice which is served as an accompaniment to all meals, as well as the pancakes (naan or chapati). The street vendors offer something to eat at good prices in the streets: at any time of the day, it is possible to order a fresh fruit juice or a lassi (the traditional drink made from cream and fruit like liquid yogurt). For the hungry, you will find rice dishes in sauce (curry or lentil dhal) presented on banana leaves, to take away and enjoy in the streets. Vegetarian options are easy to find, with restaurants clearly announcing their specialties

Regional cuisines
Goan cuisine in the north of the country is less spicy than southern cuisine known as “Tamil cuisine”. We find there the influence of Western countries through tourism. In the south, we give pride of place to spicy flavors, more or less tempered by other fatty ingredients such as ghee (clarified butter, typical), buttermilk, or yogurt. Meals are taken on a banana leaf, with rice being the staple cereal for all meals. Sometimes samosas are served as an appetite suppressant, outside of the meal, or pakoras (vegetable fritters). On the sweet side, spices are often present in desserts: Indians like to consume little babas scented with rose, semolina with saffron, or even flakes flavored with cardamom.
